The dreaded Wednesdays

I used to dread Wednesdays every week. I said to my mother I didn't want to go and she said 'don't go' but for some reason I knew I would be in trouble if I didn't attend.

Every Tuesday my dad would text me these exact words 'pick you up at 6'. My heart trembled every time I got that message and I knew I would be in trouble if I didn't go and see him so I would reply ‘yes'. That's the only time my father ever contacted me was when I wanted picking up from the house.

6pm arrived and usually his partner would collect me. If I was one minute late she would go crazy and yell at me. I had to be outside by 5.55pm sharp.

We would arrive after the 10 min journey and I would be greeted by my father sometimes nicely or sometimes aggressively. I remember one time he greeted me and said 'you were never wanted in my life'. I ignored it and then asked him if he really meant it and he said he did he never wanted more kids.

My father and his partner shared my parents previous house. It was a large modern property with an indoor pool. When my parents were married I used to use the pool all the time but when they divorced I wasn't allowed in there.

I usually spent 3 hours with my dad a week and it went by very slowly. Just after I arrived we had

dinner which was the only time we really talked apart from the fact I wasn't allowed to talk about my problems at home. My dads partner was always on his side no matter what he said or did which always meant I would lose the battle. After dinner we would go to the lounge. If I sat in my dads seat

I would be told off so I used to try and remember every time not to sit there. We would watch a bit of television usually whatever he was watching. I wasn't allowed to touch anything in their house. I was so bored, I really wanted to go home as soon as I entered the door.

8.45pm came and I was told to put my shoes back on and get ready to go back home. My dad usually drove me home and then sped past the house.

On some occasions we went out for dinner which was a nightmare. As soon as we sat down he would start to complain. He rarely took me to nice places to eat. We drove half an hour one evening just to get fish and chips and I was back home by 8pm. My mother was shocked I was home early.

For some reason my father always rushed everything, it was like he didn't want me there or didn't want to be there himself.

There was a lovely Indian restaurant near us and I went there with my dad and his partner a few times. He had this rule that he was the boss when it came to restaurants. I wanted some poppadoms and I wasn't allowed any so I just stuck with my vegan meal and tried to smile.

Adult abuse after divorce

I thought I might write about my mothers partner and how much of an asshole he is. I had no idea that my mother would fall for such a low life, cheater, woman abuser and anti English.

I first met my mothers boyfriend when my parents were still married. For some reason she wanted me to meet him but without letting my father knowing. I met him, he said hello to me and then my mother and him conversed this whole afternoon in Welsh. I was looking at her body language and I could tell she was flirting with him and he was flirting with her back. I was shocked. We arrived home and my mother shut the door and kept asking me strange questions like 'what do you think of him''is he better than your father'? I was thinking what he hell is going on!!!???

The following evening my dad woke me up in the early hours and told me my mother had been cheating on him. I replied to him saying that I had met him and I knew something was going on. He said I had to disguise the fact I knew for a week. My mother is very clever... she found out the third day that I knew. I wasn't allowed to tell the school of my friends that my parents were getting divorced. I and to lie to everyone and say that everything was fine at home. My parents also lied about their divorce to friends and family they tired to look like a happy couple all the time. I was sick of their lies!

My parents still lived together even though they were separated. It was crazy they would yell at each other all the time, eat separately, sleep separately. My mother even had a divorce party when the final papers came through after about 6 months. Then my mother got her share of the house and moved out and my dad lived in our old house. When his partners house was sold she moved in with him.

I never liked the look of my mother’s  boyfriend from day one. I don't think he cares about anyone but himself. I know he hated me as I couldn't speak a word of Welsh. He even threatened to grab my cellphone and put it into a glass of water because it kept going off all the time. He used my mothers house like a hotel. He went at 6am and then was back at 6pm expecting his dinner to be cooked for him. I never saw him have a shower or brush his teeth once and whenever I was watching TV he would always switch over the station without asking me. We only went out to public houses normally as that's the kind of food he enjoys as well as drinking till god knows what time.

One morning I was getting ready for school and my mother drove me as I missed the bus. She started driving an opposite direction and we turned up at a random house, she pulled over and said ‘Graham built that house'! I was late for school.

As you all know seatbelts are now the law. He never used a seatbelt and whenever I told him off for not wearing one my mother would tell me off. We were on vacation in Australia and they are very strict over there. I turned back and said out your seatbelt on or we will get arrested. My mother said ‘what's wrong with you' referring to me not him!!! Then my uncle said we all had to belt up and he listened. I'm pretty sure he drove my mothers car without being insured. He never told me he was insured and they are both terrible drivers.

My parents divorce and what happened after

It was about 3 am and there was a knock on my door. 'Come in' I replied worried. The door opened and my father entered and collapsed onto my bed in tears. When I finally calmed him down I asked him what had happened and his reply was 'your mother has been having an affair'. I wasn't at all shocked and my reply to that was 'I know'. He looked even more surprised and asked how I knew about it. I mentioned that a few weeks ago my mother had introduced me to a man and asked what my opinion was of him. Even though I don't speak Welsh I could understand their body language.

My father then went on to say he had suspicions about what was going on. The huge itemised phone bills, the over spending on the credit cards and the suspected phone call he received when I was there asking who owned this number. I wasn't at all shocked that my parents were going through a divorce as all they ever did was fight. There wasn't a single day where there was no fighting, but I didn't expect it to end this way.

I was 16 and going through my GCSEs and all I could hear was them fighting with the doors closed. My parents both agreed that they would live in the same house until their divorce had come through and my mother would move out and find her own place with half the share.

Their divorce was settled very quickly, my mother took custody of me and was charged with adultry. There were both civilised so there were no courts involved. A few months later I moved in with my mother, I didn't like it and I will never forgive what she did to my father. My mother sent me to an all Welsh school. It was horrible, I wasn't allowed to converse in English at all, even English and French classes were in Welsh. I even had to order my dinner in Welsh and struggled so I ended up having fries nearly every day. A few months later I was referred to a new school (which was now my 9th at least) and settled in.

A year went by and my father had found himself a girlfriend who moved into our old house with him. I only saw my father once a week. We didn't really do much. My dad would text me on Tuesday evening to ask if he had to collect me at 6pm the following evening, that was the only contact I really got from him. I was collected at 6pm by his girlfriend (if I was one minute late I would be shouted at). The car ride wasn't that far, it took about 10 minutes. We would arrive at the house and sit down for dinner. I wasn't allowed to do anything in the house so I was really bored. Even the TV shows or movies had to be my fathers choices. When it was 8:45 exactly I was asked to leave and they would drive me back home. Occasionally we would go out to dinner but then I would be back much earlier at about 8pm. For some reason he was always in a hurry as if he was trying to get rid of me. I didn't get on well with is girlfriend, she tried to be my second mother and went round the grocery store telling everyone I was her granddaughter and my mother was ugly.

I never spent Christmas with my father he was always away usually in another country. I never even saw him in the three years I was in university. He used to drive to England quite a lot and never once visited me or asked to see me. Every year for Christmas I would get money from my father which was usually a cheque of £50. When my parents for divorced they created a trust fund account for me which would pay for my education and anything else I needed in the future. I found out recently that what they were actually doing was stealing my money. My mother also stole some of my money and I never got it back. She sent me a cheque recently and I didn't accept it due to the reason that it was initially my money she had stolen and is gradually giving it back to me.

All this was going on and my mothers boyfriend was still married, he hadn't officially moved in with my mother but he did spend a lot of his time in our house and treated it like his own. I used to dread 5pm when he would arrive drunk and smell of roll ups. Whenever I was watching a TV show he would always turn the channel over. Like my mother he's anti English so I would always hear them converse in Welsh. I had learnt a bit of the language by now so I knew they were talking about me.

A few months later he started making sexual advances towards me. He only did this when my mother wasn't around and when I told her afterwards what had happened she would always laugh. The sexual advances were very strong, he would stare at my ass or even touch my ass. He knew I was a virgin and he said 'you could loose it to me'. I was totally disgusted. I told my mother about this straight away and she dragged me outside, held me against the wall and put her hands on my throat. Still to this day I have issues swallowing and have flashbacks. Another sexual move he would do was whenever I was in a bikini he would always wolf whistle and stare at me up and down and said I looked better than my mother.

I haven't had any contact with my family for six years, people keep asking me how my mother or father are and I keep saying I don't know and that I should contact them but would you after what you have read?
