As you read in the previous blogs I went to university quite late in life to get away from home. My father never contacted me but my mother always did at least twice a week on Skype to see how I was and to arrange a meeting. Sometimes she would travel a couple of hours to visit me but usually I would catch the train home for a couple of weeks.
One memory I have was telling my mother that I was coming to visit for about two weeks either she was lazy or totally forgot I was coming because when I arrived home my bed wasn't made, there was a mess of flies everywhere and an old used cup of hot chocolate was on the side table where I had left it 3/4 months ago.
My mother did have a cleaner but she was restricted in certain areas of the house which I never understood. Christmas was approaching so I went home for a few weeks. I gave my mother some nice gifts which she wanted (I can't remember what they were) but In return I had - a salt and pepper set, vegan chocolate and a potato cooker thing you put in the microwave.
I was shocked, I certainly wasn't expecting that! I asked her why and she said 'I didn't know you were coming. I asked what she had got her boyfriend and she said a dab radio which is a laugh because they are about £100 and he broke my old stereo and never apologised or offered to buy me a new one.
